Method:
The first study to test the safety and efficacy of the EPRT Device on neuro-muscular shoulder pain was carried out by Dr. Norman Shealy at the Holos Institute in Springfield, Missouri in August 1999. These studies were set up not only to determine the safety and efficacy of this device in treating shoulder pain, but also to compare it to placebo and standard TENS devices.

Altogether, 37 patients with pain in one or both shoulders were treated. The degree of pain was estimated by using visual analog scales. The range of motion of the affected joints was also measured. The results show that the efficacy of the EPRT Device was far greater than that of a placebo and provided a greater range of movement after treatment than the TENS.
